At Bigham’s Smokehouse, we believe leadership is about more than running a restaurant. It is about serving people well, building a strong team, creating a family atmosphere, and making sure every guest experiences the kind of hospitality and quality our family has been known for since 1978.

We are looking for a General Manager who wants to lead with purpose. This is a role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, developing people, building systems, and leading a restaurant through a successful day, week, month, and year.

A great General Manager at Bigham’s understands that we are in the people business, not just the food business. Food quality matters. Speed matters. Cleanliness matters. Sales matter. But the way we lead people, care for guests, and protect the culture matters just as much.

You are someone who enjoys seeing a team grow. You can lead from the front, but you also know how to step back and help others lead. You are comfortable holding people accountable while still showing kindness, respect, patience, and clarity. Your team should feel supported, challenged, and encouraged when they come to work under your leadership.

At Bigham’s, we value Excellence, Consistency, Loyalty, and Service. These values guide how we work, how we lead, how we make decisions, and how we serve our community.

What This Role Looks Like

As the General Manager, you are responsible for the overall health of the restaurant. You will lead the team, protect the guest experience, maintain food quality and cleanliness standards, develop leaders, and make sure the restaurant is operating with consistency and excellence.

You will be expected to create an environment where Team Members and Team Leaders know what is expected, understand why it matters, and feel equipped to succeed. You will help people become better by setting clear standards, giving honest feedback, and leading with humility and purpose.

You also understand the value of systems. Checklists, scorecards, food orders, inventory, training tools, schedules, labor goals, and accountability systems are not a burden to you. You see them as structure that helps people succeed and helps the restaurant run with consistency.

A strong General Manager can balance people, operations, and results. You care about the guest in front of you, the employee working beside you, and the long-term health of the business.

Responsibilities

As a General Manager, you will be expected to:

  • Lead the restaurant with a service-first, team-first mindset
  • Protect and strengthen the culture of Bigham’s
  • Lead, train, coach, and develop Team Members and Team Leaders
  • Hold the team accountable with respect, kindness, and clarity
  • Set the tone for the restaurant through attitude, work ethic, communication, and consistency
  • Make sure food quality, presentation, and portioning meet Bigham’s standards
  • Ensure every guest is served with genuine hospitality and care
  • Keep the restaurant clean, organized, safe, and ready for service
  • Use systems, checklists, scorecards, schedules, inventory, and food orders to run the restaurant well
  • Manage labor, food cost, sales, cleanliness, speed of service, and guest satisfaction
  • Communicate clearly with ownership, leadership, Team Members, and guests
  • Create schedules that serve both the needs of the restaurant and the needs of the team
  • Handle guest concerns with professionalism, care, and urgency
  • Lead by example in every area, including serving food, cleaning, stocking, and helping where needed
  • Build a team that is dependable, teachable, and committed to doing things the right way
  • Represent Bigham’s values of Excellence, Consistency, Loyalty, and Service
What We’re Looking For

A strong candidate is someone who is:

  • Mature, dependable, and highly responsible
  • A strong communicator and steady leader
  • Team-oriented and willing to serve others
  • Comfortable leading people and holding them accountable
  • Kind, respectful, humble, and clear
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Able to develop people and build leaders
  • Able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Able to make decisions under pressure
  • Teachable and open to feedback
  • Detail-oriented and committed to standards
  • Able to stand for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Able to lift, carry, or pull heavy objects when needed
  • Willing to complete or maintain a Manager Food Safety Certification
Restaurant leadership experience is preferred. More importantly, we are looking for someone with strong character, high ownership, a heart for people, and the desire to lead a team with excellence.

Schedule

This is a full-time leadership position. Hours may vary based on restaurant needs. Daytime, evening, and weekend availability is expected.

A General Manager should be willing to lead with flexibility, ownership, and care for the needs of both the business and the team.

Why Work at Bigham’s?
